Heat

• • Fire – Wood Stove – (how to light it, damper, where more wood is)
  • Winterizing practices – this is an uninsulated cottage! This is why we hang the quilts on the windows and wear socks, sweaters & slippers.
  • Electric heat – this is an uninsulated cottage! We have only recently added electric baseboard heat to keep the cottage from freezing in the winter and for helping to take the cold edge off when we first arrive. Even a few days of city style heat in January can cost a couple of hundred dollars.
  • Cottage socks – there is a basket in the mud room. Put them on over your own socks as some of them are kinda scratchy.
  • Blankets – are in the long, low brown stool in front of the couch and in the wicker basket in the corner by the dining room table. Extra blankets are also stored underneath the front bedroom storage bed. Be cozy.
